We are searching for a part-time Marketing generalist to help accelerate the growth of Handlebars through consistent execution against our strategy.

fettle is the UK’s fastest growing repair network for micro- mobility. Part of the JustPark family, Handlebars aims to help cities breathe. With more bicycles and scooters on the road than ever before, but fewer and fewer maintenance workshops to support them, we’re on a mission to turn underutilised urban spaces into perfect locations for repair and maintenance. We have big plans and are just getting started. 


We are hugely enthusiastic about cycling & care deeply about helping people to travel around inner-cities without harming the environment. We are on a mission to repurpose under-used spaces (buildings, shops and car parks) and offer a convenient place for all forms of bicycles to get serviced and fixed. Today, there are too few places for repairs and this problem will grow as more people use the trusty bicycle.

Job Summary

This new position will be responsible for leading the planning, execution and delivery of all marketing activities for Handlebars in line with the 2021 brand strategy.

An exciting role in a dynamic and youthful start-up, the successful candidate will lead the formulation of seasonal campaigns to drive customer acquisition amongst our newly identified segments, creatively briefing in-house design and the external media agency, co-ordinating launch assets across our paid, owned and earned channels, tracking and analysing the performance of our marketing, managing the marketing budget and ensuring that all marketing materials are in line with our brand identity.

In addition to core campaign management, the marketing manager will also be responsible for pushing our B2C partnership strategy with new partners, proactive ideation of brand initiatives that will raise our profile while also  working closely with our social media manager to ensure we have a vibrant, coherent and strategically aligned social content calendar

The candidate will have a huge amount of autonomy and a real influence on the strategic and creative direction of the business. Thus, you must be self-starting, analytical, hands on, creatively minded and an excellent project manager who craves responsibility to lead this growing brand and how it interfaces with the lives of our audience.


Specific roles & responsibilities

  • Develop strategies and tactics to get the word out about Handlebars and drive qualified traffic to our workshops and website.

  • Kick off marketing projects and lead their implementation - working from the brand strategy, key messages and key audiences already defined.

  • Create and maintain a calendar of activities that inform the brand & sales campaigns.

  • Deploy successful marketing campaigns and own their implementation from ideation to execution - including briefing design & writing intelligent and witty copy in line with our tov.

  • Lead the variety of marketing disciplines including organic and paid acquisition, search, content optimisation, editorial calendar, CRM, experiential and PR

  • Lead the formation of a new influencer programme and oversee its execution

  • Own the coordination of all marketing efforts and ensure our brand & sales messages are integrated cross-channel.

  • Be the brand ambassador and the go-to for brand approvals

  • Own the proactivity agenda to turn all marketing ideas into reality (sales promotions, tactical ads, guerrilla stunts etc)

  • Be the lead point person to coordinate our social media content working with the social media mgr / designer and their content calendar.

  • Build strong relationships with clubs, partners and other interested groups in order to leverage their reach to maximise our brand exposure.

  • Prepare and monitor the marketing budget on a quarterly and annual basis and allocate funds wisely

  • Report on the performance of marketing campaigns, gain insight and assess against goals. Prepare weekly reports against a set KPI framework

  • Analyse consumer behaviour and adjust email and advertising campaigns accordingly



  • 3-5 years experience in generalist marketing positions

  • Experience of engaging and influencing customers on a strategic and creative level

  • You will be able to combine short term commercial opportunities with longer term strategic planning.

  • You will be knowledgeable of a broad set of marketing and brand disciplines with experience in B2C businesses. This will include but not limited to promotional activation / advertising / marketing / PR / digital.

  •  Accomplished in relationship management you will also be results orientated and commercially effective.

  • You are resilient, restless, energetic, can-doer

  • Multi-tasker. Must be able to fight fires while simultaneously doing 3 other things.

  • Creative problem solver with excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills

  • A collaborative team player – concerned with team success as well as individual performance

  • Able to go beyond their brief to surprise and delight

  • Solution orientated. Always.
