Spring is finally here! The sun is shining, it’s getting warm enough to start thinking about putting your winter coat away and for many of us, it’s the time of year when we’re thinking of getting our bikes out of the garage. And then… boom! The world turns upside down.
The rapid spread of coronavirus means that people working from home are left wondering how to keep fit and healthy. Whilst those people who have no choice but to continue to travel to work, including many of the NHS heroes and other key workers keeping the country ticking over, face the increasingly daunting prospect of using public transport.
At Handlebars (now named Fettle.), we believe that cycling could provide the answer, whether you’re stuck at home or still commuting to work. For those of us currently cooped up, getting out on your bike provides a great, gentle form of aerobic exercise, whilst having the added benefit of necessitating a safe two metres distance from others. And if you can’t work remotely, the bike is the perfect way to avoid buses and the tube.
But spring is also the time many people get their bikes serviced, ready for a summer full of cycling - just because you can’t easily get to a bike shop right now doesn’t mean you should have to ride a bike that isn’t safe or isn’t tuned to perfection.
That’s why Handlebars (Fettle) is offering a new bike collection and return service. Here’s how it works:
Visit us at www.handlebars.io/collections, select the type of service you would like (Basic; Better; or Best) and book a collection time and date to suit you.
We’ll come to your home or office in our van to collect your bike and take it back to our workshop to carry out the service.
When the work is done, we’ll return your bike at a time and date to suit you, all within 48 hours.
We’re currently covering the whole of zones 1 and 2. If you live or work outside of this area, drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org / email@example.com or give us a ring on 01792 720098 to arrange your collection.
And we’ll be taking extra safety precautions during this period. This includes ensuring that our mechanics and drivers wear protective masks and gloves at all times, having our mechanics working in isolation and ensuring all bikes are fully wiped down and disinfected on collection and on return - you can read our COVID-19 Safety Policy in full here.
